Financial Hardship Policy

Coalition Insurance Solutions Pty Ltd (CIS Pty) is dedicated to supporting customers experiencing Financial Hardship, recognising that circumstances beyond your control can sometimes impede your ability to meet financial commitments.

1. What Constitutes Financial Hardship?

Financial Hardship occurs when an individual struggles to meet their financial obligations to CIS Pty or an insurer. Potential causes include, but are not limited to:

  • Unemployment

  • Divorce or relationship breakdown

  • Death or serious injury of a spouse or dependent

  • Serious injury or illness of the policyholder

Eligibility for Financial Hardship Support

Customers facing Financial Hardship to contact us to discuss their unique circumstances.

Individuals who may be eligible for support include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • An insured individual or a third-party beneficiary who owes the insurer money, such as a policy excess.

  • A customer who is having difficulty making premium funding repayments.

  • An individual from whom the insurer is seeking to recover money because the insurer believes they caused damage or loss to an insured party or a third-party beneficiary covered by a policy.

  • A customer making a claim following an event that has also caused them Financial Hardship and created an urgent need for their entitled policy benefits.

Important Note: Support offered under this policy does not cover the payment of premiums for an insurance policy issued by the insurer.

Where a customer requests Financial Hardship assistance CIS Pty will:

  • if appropriate, we will notify the insurer as soon as practicable after becoming aware that a customer is experiencing Financial Hardship 

  • if appropriate, provide the customer with the contact details for the National Debt Helpline: 1800 007 007 

  • Act on the insurer’s instructions to put any action to recover an amount from the customer on hold pending approval for Financial Hardship support. 

CIS Pty cannot guarantee that any request for Financial Hardship support will be accepted, and any help in relation to premium payments will be granted at the discretion of the insurer.
