Security Explainer MS Exchange

Using on-premise Microsoft Exchange for email and calendar functions and making them remotely available creates a publicly-discoverable, attractive point of attack for hackers.

If you can’t move your email to a secure and reliable cloud service right now, there are still some things you can do to minimize your exposure and limit your Microsoft Exchange vulnerabilities, including:

  • Removing the Exchange admin panels from the public internet.

  • Using a Firewall Access Control List (ACL), Virtual Private Network (VPN), or Proxy and Protective DNS.

  • Limit the functionality of Exchange Web Services and remote access.
